Grosseto, in brief.

Medici Walls, Maremma archaeology, Roselle Archaeological Park, Museum of Archaeology and Art of the Maremma.

Grosseto is the provincial capital of the Maremma.

Its historic centre is shaped by the Medici Walls, a late-sixteenth-century bastioned fortification system whose Cassero and bastions require distinct histories. The city’s municipal archaeology and art museum preserves material from the Grosseto centre, while Roselle Archaeological Park remains a separate state archaeological site in the municipal area.
