Vineyards in the shadow of Mont Blanc

One denomination holds a patchwork of tiny Alpine vineyards.

Local grapes lead: Petit Rouge, Fumin, Cornalin and Mayolet for reds, Prié Blanc and Petite Arvine for whites, alongside Nebbiolo, Pinot noir, Gamay, Chardonnay and Moscato. Wines can be labelled by grape, which must make up at least 85%, or by one of seven named subzones, each with its own page here.

Seven subzones, seven pages

Each subzone has its own grapes and its own stretch of the Dora Baltea, from Donnas at the lower end of the valley to Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle at the head. Browse them one by one to compare.

The Dora Baltea valley

Vineyards follow the valley of the Dora Baltea from Donnas near the Piedmont border up to Morgex and La Salle, each subzone limited to its own stretch and altitude.
