The grape Molise kept for itself

Tintilia is little grown outside Molise, and this DOC is its home.

Tintilia gives deeply coloured reds that tend towards dark berry fruit and a peppery edge. The DOC covers the hills of Campobasso and Isernia provinces, and only hillside vineyards at 200 metres or more above sea level qualify. Three types are made: red, red Riserva and rosé.

What Riserva adds

A Riserva must be aged for at least two years before release, so it arrives rounder and more settled than the everyday red.

The hills of Campobasso and Isernia

The grape zone is a list of named communes across the two provinces, among them Campobasso, Larino and Guglionesi in the east and Isernia, Agnone and Venafro in the west.
