One name, many grapes

This is the umbrella DOC for everyday and varietal wine from the Molise hills.

Reds and rosés are at least 85% Montepulciano, and the same rule applies to each named grape. The list includes Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Pinot grigio, Aglianico, Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Some come as sparkling or passito, with Falanghina and Moscato the passito grapes.

Riserva

A red labelled Riserva is aged for at least two years, at least six months of them in wood.

Across the Campobasso hills

The grape zone is a long list of communes in Campobasso province, from the coast around Campomarino to the hills inland.
