Cinque Terre is the collective name for Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Along this steep Ligurian coast, stone-walled terraces were developed over centuries for vines and olive trees, creating a cultural landscape shaped by long-term adaptation to difficult terrain. Cinque Terre lies within the wider UNESCO World Heritage property Portovenere, Cinque Terre, and the Islands (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto), rather than being separately inscribed.
