Barolo
- Minimum
- 38 months, including 18 in wood

Barolo is a red Nebbiolo wine with defined wood maturation and a longer Riserva requirement.
A single grape variety gives Barolo a clear identity across a varied group of Langhe hills.
Barolo is made from Nebbiolo alone. Its vineyards lie among the Langhe hills south of Alba, in a landscape described by layered marl and sand. The village names offer a useful way into this compact wine world: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba each belong to the denomination’s geography, alongside defined portions of neighboring municipalities.
Minimum maturation starts November 1 of the harvest year.

The zone includes all of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba and parts of eight further municipalities, including La Morra and Monforte d’Alba, in Cuneo province.
