The long-aged Vulture

Same grape and zone as the DOC, held to lower yields and longer ageing.

Superiore and Riserva come from Aglianico alone, grown on volcanic hills between 200 and 700 metres, with yields capped at 8 tonnes per hectare. The wine must reach at least 13.5% alcohol. Expect a deep, structured red with firm tannins and the capacity to age for many years.

Superiore and Riserva

Superiore is released from the November of the third year after harvest, after 12 months in wood and 12 in bottle. Riserva waits until the fifth year, after 24 months in wood and 12 in bottle.

Basilicata

The same fifteen communes

The DOCG uses the same delimited zone as the DOC, centred on Rionero in Vulture, Barile, Melfi and Venosa.
