Alfa Romeo Giulia (952 generation)

A modern Giulia shaped by rear-drive proportions, with distinct Quadrifoglio, GTA and GTAm branches.

Introduced at Arese in June 2015, the modern Giulia combines a rear-drive architecture with compact proportions and Alfa Romeo’s trefoil front. Series code 952 identifies this generation; Quadrifoglio and the later GTA specials mark separate chapters.

A new Giulia arrives at Arese

In June 2015, Alfa Romeo presented the new Giulia to international media at its museum in Arese. The reveal coincided with the 105th anniversary of A.L.F.A., the name under which the company began.1

What the 952 code identifies

The Giulia’s series code is 952; the 2023 Quadrifoglio factsheet uses this designation. The designation identifies this modern generation, while the sheet’s model-year specifications describe that particular version.2

Architecture and proportion

The Giulia’s 2015 architecture was based on rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive also available. It connects that layout to short overhangs and a long bonnet, then places the familiar trefoil nose at the front. The long bonnet, compact overhangs and trefoil give the saloon a silhouette tied to the marque’s design vocabulary.1

Quadrifoglio at the top of the range

At the 2015 launch, Quadrifoglio occupied the top position in the Giulia range and arrived with a bespoke turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Its dedicated powertrain marked it out as a distinct performance version within the launch lineup.1

Centro Stile and the 2023 update

The 2023 Quadrifoglio factsheet credits the design to Alfa Romeo Centro Stile. That update has three-element headlamps and a trilobo front, details that give the model year a distinct place in the Giulia’s design timeline. For readers comparing model years, the headlamp signature offers a visible marker of that update.2

GTA and GTAm, the limited 2020 specials

In 2020 Alfa Romeo returned to the GTA name with a version derived from Giulia Quadrifoglio. GTAm took the idea further as a two-seat variant, while GTA retained four seats. The company announced the pair as a combined limited edition of 500 cars. Their low production run gives them a distinct place among the Giulia’s special versions.3,4

Three labels answer three different questions

First identify the generation: 952 is the modern Giulia introduced in 2015. Next identify the update: the 2023 Quadrifoglio’s three-element headlamp signature belongs to that model-year description. Finally identify the version: GTA and the two-seat GTAm are the separate 2020 limited-series branch. Generation code, model year and variant are not interchangeable labels.1,2,4

The launch design’s long bonnet and short overhangs provide the common silhouette. The launch Quadrifoglio’s active front splitter is a more specific engineering feature. Keeping that feature attached to the named performance version prevents a front-view comparison from quietly giving every Giulia the same aerodynamic equipment.1
