Pomellato: Milanese Jewellery in Motion

Founded in Milan in 1967, Pomellato brought a ready-to-wear sensibility to fine jewellery.

Explore Pomellato’s Milan roots, chain designs, goldsmithing and the Nudo collection.

A Milanese idea of fine jewellery

Pino Rabolini founded Pomellato in Milan in 1967 and drew on prêt-à-porter to imagine fine jewellery for daily wear. Kering describes this as a new place for jewellery in everyday dressing.1,2

The chain as a design element

Pomellato introduced its first gourmette chain in 1967. Its retrospective follows chains as a house signature, from that original link to later, voluptuous designs.1,2

Goldsmithing and colour

Kering’s 2016 annual report identifies lost-wax casting as a signature Pomellato technique and links it to fluid, flowing shapes. The group’s retrospective also highlights the role of coloured gemstones and sculptural volume in the brand’s later design language.1,3
