From Modena Design, founded by Horacio Pagani in 1991, to the formal establishment of Pagani Automobili in 1998, the marque developed through design, engineering and advanced composites. The Zonda and Huayra mark successive chapters of that work.

Two dates, two milestones

Horacio Pagani founded Modena Design in San Cesario sul Panaro in 1991 to offer automotive design, engineering, models and prototypes. Pagani Automobili was formally established in 1998, seven years after that first design venture.1,2

An industrial-design education

Horacio Pagani enrolled in industrial design at the National University of La Plata in Argentina in early 1974. He later worked with Lamborghini in Modena; after that collaboration ended, his attention turned to a car of his own.3

The Zonda takes shape

The Zonda C12 was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. For Pagani, the car brought the founder’s independent design project before an international audience after years of work on the model.3
