Ermenegildo Zegna founded a wool mill in Trivero in 1910. Its fine cloth became the foundation of a luxury menswear house; Oasi Zegna and the named Oasi Cashmere programme connect that textile history to the surrounding landscape and a specific fibre route.

A mill in Trivero

Ermenegildo Zegna founded his wool mill in Trivero in 1910. In the company’s account, the ambition to make fine cloth went together with plans for the surrounding community. The mill anchored a textile business that later expanded into luxury menswear.1,2

From cloth to menswear

In the second half of the twentieth century, ZEGNA expanded beyond fine cloth into luxury menswear. Its Made to Measure service belongs to that period of growth: the mill’s work in fabric was joined by clothing shaped to a customer’s measurements. The development marks a change in what the house offered, while keeping textiles at its centre.1,2

The landscape around the mill

Oasi Zegna covers about 100 square kilometres in the Biella Alps. Oasi Zegna was formally established in 1993, while the Panoramica Zegna road, built in the 1930s, extends for 26 kilometres through the territory. The landscape around Trivero remains a named part of the house’s history.3
