Damiani: Valenza goldsmithing across generations

Damiani began in Valenza in 1924, when Enrico Grassi Damiani established his work as a master goldsmith. Three generations have carried the family name from individual commissions into a jewellery house whose Belle Époque and Mimosa collections give distinct forms to its craft.

A goldsmith house in Valenza

In 1924 Enrico Grassi Damiani began working in Valenza, the Piedmontese goldsmithing centre. His skill as a master goldsmith brought commissions for one-off jewels from prominent families. That workshop origin remains central to the family house’s account of itself.1,2

A family business changes scale

In the 1960s Enrico’s son Damiano expanded production and commerce while encouraging research in design and technique. He also introduced catalogues of the collections and a stated price for customers. The family workshop was becoming a larger jewellery business without leaving Valenza behind.1,2

Belle Époque, reframed as jewellery

Enrico Grassi Damiani created Belle Époque in response to the splendour of its namesake era. Belle Époque Frame is a later high-jewellery interpretation built around the image of a film reel: a bracelet of seventeen square frames with diamond pavé and fancy-coloured diamonds. Geometry and changing colour give the cinematic reference its form.3,4
