Nizza
- Minimum
- 18 months, including 6 in wood

Nizza is a red Barbera wine with distinct minimum maturation rules for the standard and Riserva styles.
A denomination devoted entirely to Barbera in the Asti countryside.
Nizza is made from Barbera alone. Its vineyards occupy a wholly hilly area around Nizza Monferrato, where aspect matters on the steep slopes. The ground is largely sedimentary, with marl and sandstone formations. Cold winters and hot summers are moderated on the hills by elevation and ventilation, giving the grape a specific setting within the Asti countryside.
Minimum aging begins January 1 of the year after the harvest. The same periods apply to wines bearing the Vigna mention.

The grape area comprises eighteen municipalities in Asti province, including Nizza Monferrato, Agliano Terme, Calamandrana, Vinchio and Mombercelli.
