Venice is car-free - arrive by train or water taxi. Vaporetto passes save money if staying multiple days. Verona and Padua are easy day trips by regional train.
April-May and September-October
Mild (14-20°C), acqua alta flooding possible through April. Fewer crowds than summer.
Warm and humid (26-32°C). Venice is extremely crowded and can smell in canals.
Pleasant (16-22°C), grape harvest in Prosecco region. Acqua alta returns in November.
Cold and damp (3-10°C). Venice carnival in February is magical but packed.
